Beware of Too Many View Depression Due to Porn

You have a spouse who likes to look at pictures or watching porn? Beware because, according to a study, it can make it so easy to get depressed.

As quoted from Pscyhology Today, the research was conducted by Kevin B. Skinner, Ph.D., a marriage and family therapist. The man who wrote 'Treating Pornography Addiction: The Essential Tools for Recovery' has 15 years of helping hundreds of people who are addicted to pornography.

From his research, there are 450 respondents who examined for six months. The research question Dr. Skinner is: is there a relationship between frequency of viewing pornography with depression?

After investigation found, nearly 30% of respondents reported seeing a picture or watching a pornographic movie at least 3-5 times a week. More than 25% of respondents indicated that they perform every day activities.

Dr. Skinner then measured the levels of depression were two groups of respondents. Score depression group was 6.5. He then tried to take another look at the difference in rates of depression among individuals who view pornography every day with a 3-5 times a week.

After he had seen, the results surprised him. Individuals who view pornography every day included in the score of patients with depression (score more than 21). Meanwhile, those who look at pornography 3-5 times a week, although slightly different score (15), is not categorized as depressed.

Dr. Skinner concluded that people who consume pornographic pictures or movies every day, not just dealing with the problem of pornography addiction. They will also experience depression.

In men, addicted to pornography is not only can make them depressed. In a study published in the journal titled "Porn-Induced Sexual Dysfunction is a Growing Problem 'it explains, loss of libido in men could now happen 30 years earlier. This is caused by excessive stimulation of dopamine that occurs frequently and continuously.

Dopamine is a hormone that activates the body's reaction to sexual pleasure and sexual arousal. When hormones are stimulated to excess, will cause a condition called 'paradoxial effect' or 'dopamine spike' is a state where the brain loses its ability to respond to signals from the hormone dopamine. That is, men who are addicted to pornography tend to expect more extreme sexual experience to make him aroused.

Conditions more concern, in some addicts, the response to dopamine could be dropped so drastically that they can not cause an erection without the 'provocation' pornographic content on the internet.
