CTM containing chlorpheniramine maleate. Chlorpheniramine maleate included in the category of agent allergy, ie histamine (H1-receptor antagonist). Chlorpheniramine maleate has the chemical name 2-Pyridinepropanamine, b-(4-chlorophenyl)-N, N-dimethyl.

These drugs are commonly used to relieve sneezing, itchy, watery eyes, itchy nose or throat, and runny nose caused by hay fever (allergic rhinitis), or other respiratory allergies.

Animal studies show the drug is no risk to the fetus but there are no controlled studies in pregnant women.

Animal studies have shown adverse effects (other than a decrease in fertility) that was not confirmed in controlled studies in women in the first trimester, and no evidence of risk in the next trimester.

These drugs have sedative effects are relatively weak compared with the first-generation antihistamines. Chlorphenamine often combined with phenylpropanolamine to form an allergy medication with antihistamines and decongestants.
