Liver Damage Can't Be Prevented Only by Detox

Detox beginning of a tradition for fans of alcoholic beverages to get rid of toxins cause liver damage. But experts warn hepatology, detox is not very useful and sometimes even dangerous.

The British Liver Trust, a body of experts hepatology recently issued a warning related to alcohol detox tradition beginning of each year. This warning is based on the widespread tradition of detox is performed during the month of January.

Every early years, liquor fans in Britain do a 'fast' alcohol for a month. The hope is to give opportunity for the heart to rest, as well as remove toxins that are the remnants of alcohol metabolism.

In the body, alcohol is treated like drugs and toxins to be discarded when no longer used. Disposal process carried out by the liver, which is accompanied by the release of enzyme-specific enzymes to break down alcohol so easily removed from the body.

The production of enzymes that too much because of high levels of alcohol in the body can cause liver injury memngalami, sometimes even progress to hardening of the liver tissue. If the heart is hardened, then the function will decline.

Stop consuming alcohol during the month of January was resting the heart for a while. But according to experts hepatology, this only gives a false sense of security and sometimes jutru trigger excessive consumption in February and beyond.

"Better make a few resolutions to reduce the consumption of alcohol throughout the year, rather than actually do not drink but only at the beginning of the year," said Dr. Andrew Langford from The British Liver Trust .

From the health perspective, alcohol is like two sides of a coin that can not be mutually inseparable. On the one hand there is the content of antioxidants that nourish the heart and prevent cancer when taken in moderate amounts, whereas on the other hand, if excessive can lead to liver damage.
